Student Prepaid Credit Cards

Prepaid Student Credit Cards

When you're looking to build your credit for the first time, people may have told you to go toward the prepaid credit card route. While, I would choose this as my last route, prepaid cards aren't the worst thing in the world. In fact, there are some pretty good cards out there that will actually help you control your spending and help you build your credit too. I'm going to show you what you should look out for.

Look for a major logo - When you're looking for a prepaid card, always look for that major logo from Visa and MasterCard. If it doesn't have a major logo, you may find that many merchants won't accept the card.

Look at monthly fees - A lot of these cards will have a monthly fee but the good ones won't. Before you submit your application, make sure that you read the details and fine print to see if there are any fees of any type. You won't want to apply and find out that the card has a load of fees each month.

Look for credit building - Most people think that prepaid cards are like gift cards, where they won't build your credit but yes, there are cards out there that will help you with your credit building. Look at the cards benefit to see if the card helps you build your credit. If it does, the bank will most likely point it out.

A prepaid card is a great way to get approved 100% and also is a great way to control your spending. If you feel you think you're going to overspend with your first card, I would recommend you try one of these types out. If not, I would look at other types of cards.
