Student Loan Credit Cards

Just about every college student out there is going to have a student loan. If this sounds like your situation, you may find that you're going to need some extra cash in order to pay for books, food, or something else college related. If you do decide to go the college card route, you're going to have to make sure that you're using it for things you need, and you will also want to make sure that you're using it for things that you're going to be able to pay back.

Student credit cards can't be treated like a joke. You're going to want to budget yourself, as well as know what you can afford each and every month. You don't want to fall into the trap of getting into debt at such an early age.

When you're strapped for cash and your student loans aren't cutting it, or you find that you don't need one, I wanted to recommend a few cards that you should look into...

Discover Cards - Discover has a great line of cards. They have their student card, as well as a gas one that can save you on gasoline fill ups. I would recommend that you get rewards on top of what you're already buying. Pay it off in full and you can really take advantage!

Secured Cards - Secured cards are really meant for those with bad credit, but what you're going to find out is that if you're having a hard time getting any other card, you may want to go this route.

A secured card works when you give the bank a deposit. Let's say that you need to give them $300 to start up your card. The bank is going to place this deposit into an account. If you start to miss a monthly payment, they can simply dip into the account, and they will always know that they can get the money that the need, making it a win-win for both. You're going to get your credit, while the bank will feel safe with your account.

Now, student loans over history are going to better for you in terms of interest rates. If you don't want to go through the approval process, I can understand. Keep in mind that when you do apply for a student card, your credit limit isn't going to be high. As long as you're smart with your cards and everything else, you should be okay!
